Welcome to Dartford Football Development Centre, our Saturday programme designed for players aged 5–14, with a strong focus on developing through games, match situations and team-based football.

Our philosophy is simple: learn the game by playing the game.

Every session combines purposeful coaching with plenty of game time, giving players the opportunity to develop their decision-making, teamwork, positioning and understanding of football in realistic match situations.

Sessions are delivered by experienced FA & UEFA licensed coaches, with players grouped according to age and ability to create competitive, enjoyable and appropriate football environments.

Whether your child already plays for a team, attends one of our Player Development Centres, or simply wants more opportunities to play and improve, Football Development is suitable for all abilities.

⭐ Our Football Development Programme

Every 90-minute session is designed around game-related learning, helping players understand and enjoy football through realistic situations.

⚽ Game-Based Development

Players learn through football-specific activities that naturally lead into games, giving them plenty of opportunities to make decisions, solve problems and express themselves on the pitch.

🆚 Small-Sided Games

We use 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and larger small-sided games to maximise touches of the ball, involvement and decision-making.

Smaller formats mean more passes, more shots, more defending, more attacking and more opportunities to learn.

🧠 Football & Game Understanding

Players develop their understanding of:

* Attacking & defending
* Movement & positioning
* Creating and using space
* Passing & supporting teammates
* Transition from attack to defence
* Decision-making under pressure
* Communication & teamwork

🏆 Match Play

Match play is a major part of our Saturday Football Development programme.

Players are given plenty of opportunities to put what they have learned into practice through competitive, age-appropriate matches.

Our coaches continue to coach and support players during games, helping them recognise situations and develop a better understanding of the game.

👥 Teamwork & Communication

Football is a team game. Sessions encourage players to communicate, work together, support teammates and understand their role within a team.

😀 Confidence & Creativity

We want players to feel confident enough to try things, make decisions and play without fear of making mistakes.

Our environment encourages creativity, confidence, resilience and most importantly — enjoyment of the game.

🔵 Player Development + Football Development

Our programmes are designed to complement each other.

Player Development Centres focus more heavily on developing the individual player — technique, ball mastery, 1v1 ability and individual decision-making.

Football Development Centres give players more opportunities to develop within the game — applying their skills through team-based activities, game situations and match play.

Players are welcome to attend either programme or combine both for an even broader football development experience.

Every player develops at their own pace, and our aim is to provide an environment where children can play more football, improve their game and enjoy developing alongside other young players.

* Tracksuit or sweatshirt during colder weather
* Waterproof jacket when required
* Plastic or rubber-studded boots / suitable trainers
* Shin pads – compulsory

💷 Pay as You Play

Dartford Football Development Centre operates on a Pay as You Play basis at £10 per session, giving families the flexibility to attend without committing to a full term.
